26 Jul Father’s Day Super Dad Pop Up Card Tutorial
I know I finished this tutorial for the Super Dad pop up card over a month late for Father’s Day, but on the other hand, it’s 11 months early for next year. Plus, this card makes a great birthday card for dad. I changed the design a little so that you can use a different color for the inside card. As you can see, the yellow inside card provides better contrast for the pop up elements and for the “S” in the corners. Here is what the card looks like:
Here is a video of the card in action:

Here are instructions on how to make the Super Dad popup card.
2. Cut out the “SuperDAD” parts out of blue card stock, the inside card out of yellow card stock and the outside card and cape out of red card stock. Click here for instructions on how to cut out the pieces using the template. Make sure you score all of the dotted lines in the center of the inside and outside card.
3. Insert the tabs at the bottom of the “DAD” piece into the inside card. Do this for both halves. Fold the tabs down and glue or tape them to the back of the inside card.
4. Glue the red cape in between the two halves of the “SuperDAD” pieces. The curved edge of the cape should be positioned upwards. Fold the card in half before the glue dries to make sure that the two halves are glued symmetrically. Make sure you do not have excess glue coming out of the letters.
5. Insert the corners of your inside card into the corners of the outside card.
That’s it! It’s a pretty simple card to make. Click here if you want to get the template: Super Dad Pop Up Card Template. The template has some additional text not shown (“Happy Father’s Day,” “Happy Birthday,” “You’re My Hero.”)
If your dad is a superman, this is a great card to make him for Father’s day or for his birthday.
