31 Jan CreativePopUpCard’s NEW Website!
Hi Everyone! As you all may have noticed, I have a new website. Besides the new look and feel, the big difference is that my templates are no longer free :(. I know many of you will be upset and I would be too.
I thought about this for a long time and I realized that I can't manage my day job, my website and spend time with my new baby all at the same time. I've been so busy I haven't even started a new card for Valentine's day! So I had a choice, I have to spend less time on one of these things. I can't spend less time on my family but my day job pays my bills. Either I give up my website or I had to start paying my bills with my website. This is an unfortunate choice because I love sharing my designs with everyone. This will allow me to continue making my cards and sharing my designs. I will still post free designs, but for some reason I can't get it to work right now. I know that there will be a backlash and I'm expecting a lot of hate mail. I just hope that those of you who enjoy my designs will still come back and visit.
I want to thank all of you for your support because without you, I would not have been so inspired to make these cards.

You don,t want to thank, you must be sure that in my case I admire your work.Congratulations for your new site!!!!!!!!!

of course I am, as many, disappointed by the change, however, I believe that most people will ultimately understand it. When good resources are reasonably priced it seems churlish to expect them for free. my website resources are free but I’ve put a permanent donate button there, it’s a move many websites are going for as people realise they don’t need to accept shoddy work and artists and designers subsequently need to pour more time and effort into the work they share. However making money off a website can be an uphill battle as people will always look for what they can find for free first, I wish you much luck.

If you get hate mail then those people are petty. You have been giving of yourself & sharing designs for a long time. I am disappointed a bit BUT you need to get something for all your efforts. You are very talented !!! I
LOVE the idea of a coupon !!! GREAT way to ease into the transition !!!
Hugs for all you do ! Diana/AZ

Hey buddy, I applaud your hard work on this and good luck! You’ve blown so many weekends and spent so much time and effort on your designs and the site, you well deserve to make this site self sustaining.

Can’t blame you for wanting to get paid for your talent….I should have downloaded the magical snowman card when you first posted it……thanks for the lesson in procrastination. LOL Ü
Enjoy all the time you can with the baby…they grow up too too fast.

I only had a moment of “oh no” but when I first went on your blog I was amazed if not shocked that everything was FREE!. You even came back to finish your blog after the birth of your baby. I will purchase your templates (well the ones I like) as you create them. I just wish I was that creative.

khanhPosted at 17:12h, 01 February
I really want you to make a pop up flower card I would buy that one.
CarolPosted at 22:24h, 01 February
Good for you!
Once I started reading up on the tax implications of running “it” as a business I decided it was more trouble than it was worth. (Collecting and remitting sales tax, figuring and paying self-employment tax, getting a business license, etc, etc.).

how do make your own website
SorayaPosted at 02:08h, 02 February
I understand the choices you were forced to make. Having a baby requires so much time and energy! You’re a great Dad which means that you are exhausted most of the time. I’ll support your endeavors and tell others about you!

Deborah JezierskiPosted at 17:05h, 03 February
I completly understand. But, there are those of us, who by no failure on their part. That have become disabled, and SSDI, is not something you’ll ever get rich on, and medications are far more important and costly, then card templates. So I doubt that I’ll be spending any money here. Your designs are wonderful.
But, here’s a thought–take one of your older, more popular designs, make it free, for 1 day only, a month. A different day each time, so that nobody would expect just to click, on that day every month; they’d have to read the emails, to know what design and what day to click. This would also help you to know how many, actually reads your emails. Have a blessed life, with that new baby.
Creative RichPosted at 18:25h, 03 February
Hi Deborah, Thank you for your suggestion. I do plan on making some free designs in the future. I also will send periodic updates on sales on certain designs to my subscribers.

Espero que le vaya bien en esta forma de trabajar, edite libros con tarjetas o magazines , le aseguro que sería de las primeras en comprar cuando lleguen a mi país.

I dont mind spending money but i wld like the cards made for me. i was going to buy 4 cards until i realized they are just the templates. i love your cards and such but i dont see me spending money and time to make a card. i dont have the patience right now to sit and make cards. I love my girl but i think i will just buy those cheap hallmark cards unless you say yes i will make one for you. let me know your price. i hope not too expensive though. i need an answer soon. valentines day is around.
Creative RichPosted at 17:25h, 04 February
Hi, Thank you for visiting my site. Unfortunately, I only sell templates and not the card itself. Some cards are very easy to make. You can try to make one this year 🙂

Perhaps also allow people submit their own templates, if they haven’t already. If you seen other DIY websites, people can submit their tutorials/templates and whatnot. In a sense, you can also provide free templates from the users who would like to donate.
Creative RichPosted at 15:39h, 07 February
Yes, at some point I would love to do that. There are so many creative people out there.
crystalPosted at 11:06h, 07 February
yes! I am SAD, so SAD!! but on the other hand, i understand your situation, and love ur creation of the pop up cards! they are simple, yet special. And ur designs are unique! I am looking forward for your new designs!!!!!!!!!!!! (kinda suck I didn’t save all ur templets when it is free!!! LOL)
dianePosted at 22:29h, 07 February

Creative RichPosted at 17:46h, 08 February
Hi Adelina, you can instantly access your purchased templates by logging into your account and clicking on “Account and Downloads.” You will see links to your templates on your main account page.

Greeting from Australia Rich!
I understand why you have made these changes to your site Rich and I will continue to support you 🙂 I have 3 kids and know how much time they take. I appreciate that up until now your designs were all free. I really hope this works as a business for you. One design I REALLY hope you put up for sale is the lotus flower you posted on you tube years ago.
Creative RichPosted at 14:23h, 10 February
Hi Allison! Thanks for your support. I have had other requests for that lotus flower. I’ll put that on my list of things to do!
MIKEPosted at 08:07h, 12 February
Thank you for everything before. Actually, all you have said are right. But I want to make these card with my own hand to show my intention >.<.ggg However, I hope your business going well. ^_^
AndriyPosted at 17:23h, 19 February
I’m really sad about the change, too. Well, I understand why you changed it, great work has to be paid, but not everyone is now possible to access the templates. For the UK or USA 5$ aren’t much, but in the Ukraine (where I’m from) it’s more than you think. And plus there is almost no e-money in Ukraine, so impossible to buy the templates. At least there is one template I downloaded before, the Lovebirds. They’re great, thank you!
ReeshaPosted at 08:22h, 25 January
I’ve watched your site for a long time now, and though I’m very sad to see the free templates go away, I have to say I’m very happy for you.
Happy for your new little one.
Happy for your new website.
Happy that you can get paid for doing something you enjoy.
Happy for your new cutting machine that you got over new years.
I struggled with what cutting machine to get for quite awhile, and wasn’t sure about my Silhouette. But I’m relieved to see that another pop-up card maker has bought it. 🙂
Thanks for just being who you are and taking the time to post tutorials. I wish you the best and I hope to be able to buy some of your templates soon.
Creative RichPosted at 08:18h, 26 January
Hi Reesha! Thanks for sticking with me for all this time. Good luck with your blog!
