4th of July Napkin Ring Holder

4th of July Napkin Ring Holder

I was thinking about making a 4th of July pop up card, but it occurred to me, who makes 4th of July pop up cards? Well, I guess you could make invitations to an Independence Day party. I figured it might be more useful to make something you could use at a 4th of July party. Here's what I came up with: Paper Napkin Ring Holder. This is really more of a paper craft project. I wanted to make a 3-dimensional napkin ring that was easy to make. This napkin ring is a 4th of July fireworks rocket. Here are some pictures:

When I first made it without the stars, it kinda looked like a squid. But I liked the way it finally turned out. Let me know what you think. This design requires no gluing so it's fairly easy and quick to make. Cutting it out probably takes the longer time than assembling it together.

The tutorial for this design can be viewed here: Independence Day Napkin Ring Holder Tutorial.

Great! Do you have anything for 4th of July birthdays?

I don’t have anything yet, but what about writing Happy Birthday and a message on a really nice piece of card stock or paper, then rolling it up and putting a napkin ring around it. Ok, maybe it wont fit inside an envelope. You could also make the rocket without the ring, and then gluing the rocket on the front of a card. It’s not a pop up, but it gives the front of the card a 3D effect. I’ll try to mock one up in my tutorial.

I’m not in the U.S. so it doesn’t really work for me……. but it’s still a cool crafty idea!

Yes, it takes patience cutting it out using a knife. That’s how i started. You can also invest in a cutting machine. They can run $200+. Make sure you use 65 lb card stock. It will be easier to cut than heavier card stock. Also, use a metal ruler to cut straight lines. A good self healing cutting board also helps.
