Christmas Pop Up Card: Complex Pyramid Tree

Christmas Pop Up Card: Complex Pyramid Tree

So it's December 28th and I'm putting up a post on a Christmas card. I feel like I'm turning in my term paper after the finals…way late. So I know this will not be very useful this year but perhaps someone will want to make it for next year. As I said in an earlier post, when I first designed this card, it seemed rather simple. It turns out, making the card as designed was a tad more difficult than I expected, so therefore, I created the simple pyramid pop up Christmas tree card. The concept for the complex card is the same but harder to assemble and to cut out. It also has the peeing Labrador hidden inside the tree.

Here are some pictures of the card:

Here is a video of the card in action:

The video shows 4 different variations of the card:

  1. Standard: solid inside sheet with peeing dog
  2. Tree only: the tree is cut out of the inside sheet. This is a little easier to assemble
  3. Tree only no dog: for those who don't find the humor in the peeing dog
  4. Tree only no dog, red: This is the same as #3 but with a red backing and green tree

You can view the tutorial for this card here: Complex Pyramid Christmas Tree .

Just a question: why is there a peeing dog in the tree? why not a reindeer or Santa?

Well, If you were a dog and really needed to use the bathroom and you saw a big tree conveniently located inside the house rather than out in the cold, wouldn’t you pee on the Christmas tree? Obviously, the card isn’t as funny as I thought it would be.

You have a great imagination and cut paper very accurately. I can’t believe you use a scissors or exacto blade. Did you use one of those craft cutting machines?

Most of my previous work was with an x-acto knife. But I’ve been using a cutting machine for all of my tutorial designs because it’s much faster to cut.

    Hi

I am really impressed by your work. You are amazing. Just wanted to know where can I get the kind of pictures you use for the cards?

    Thanks
