Happy Valentine’s day Everyone! This is my favorite pop up card making holiday of the year. Here is the card I made this year for my wife. I wanted to surprise her, so that is why I am posting it now. I’m sorry that it will be too late for most of you to make it this year. So here’s the idea behind the card. As with many of my pop up cards, I like to make cards that are animated or move. I wanted to try a new twisting technique so I decided to make a heart that twists as you open the card. So the original idea was to make a single heart that twisted as you opened the card. Do any of you have “design creep” when you make a craft? Well, I then decided to make 2 hearts turn together, and then thought it would be nice to add some words or a kissing couple to the hearts. It ended up taking much longer to design this card than I had planned. Isn’t that always the case? Here is what the card looks like:
This is the card with “I <3 You” in the center.
This is the card with the kissing sweethearts in the center.
This is the card when closed. I’ve added some hearts and a heart clasp to the outside.
The images really don’t do it justice to how this card opens. Take a look at this video and watch how the hearts twist when the card is opened.
The hearts only twist 90 degrees, so it’s not that noticeable. Can you think of other things that you could attach to the hearts so that they “twist” together?
The template is available at my Template Store.

Let me know what you think about this card. I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine’s day. If you made one of my pop up cards I’d love to hear about your recipient’s reaction.
