Thanks to everyone who posted some great ideas for a fathers day card. There are some great ideas that If I don’t try this year, I’ll try next year. So I decided to make a pop up Bar-B-Q grill. I ended up turning the card into a housewarming pop up card for a friend of mine who had a housewarming party this weekend. Congratulations Mike! The pop up grill can be used for picnic pop up card invitations, tailgate party pop up card invitations, independence day party pop up card invitations, memorial day party pop up card invitations or any other party involving some grilling. Here is what the card looked like.

The card consists of a pop up grill in the center with cut outs of utensils underneath. The lid of the grill is closed when the card is first opened. The lid can be opened to present some of the grilled masterpieces inside.  Here is what the card looks like with the grill cover opened.

Here is a close up of what’s inside the grill.   I made some different shaped stakes and pork chops, a fish, and some drum sticks. I also made some hot dogs, but they didn’t fit in this card.

So you can customize your grill to what your dad prides himself in cooking.  I’ll make a few more tweaks in the card and make it again for Fathers day.

The tutorial for this design can be viewed here: Barbecue Grill Pop Up Card Tutorial.
