I’ve finally finished designing the two tiered birthday or wedding cake pop up card. I made a wedding cake version almost 2 months ago, but I wanted to refine the design so it would be easy to assemble and make. This is a great cake pop up card that can be used for birthday or wedding cards. It can also make a great wedding invitation.

This round cake popup card has two tiers that are separated by a cake stand. I mentioned in the previous post that the sides of the cake are made of ribbon. This will help the cake open up completely round. Other cake pop up card designs I’ve seen tend to have creases on the side, make the cake look somewhat football or oval shaped. The ribbon is soft enough that it can conform to a very nice round circle. The first card I made used 5/8” ribbon. I’ve also made a version that uses 7/8”. I like both versions although the 7/8” ribbon version looks a little more “plump”. Since you may fall in love with a ribbon that is either 5/8” or 7/8”, I will provide both versions. This will give you the most flexibility in choosing what your cake will look like.Here is the second cake pop up card I made. This one is a Birthday popup card.

I found some great “Happy Birthday” ribbon so I decided to make a sweet 16 birthday card. I used colorful background paper to complement the different colors on the ribbon. I made a “16” candle cake topper. The template will have all the numbers so you can customize the birthday cake with any candle number. I bought a bunch of ribbon, so I’m going to make several different versions of this popup card to inspire you to be creative and decorate the card in your unique way.
